(Belga) Toen de Franse president Nicolas Sarkozy tijdens de afgelopen G8-top in Heiligendamm op een van de persconferenties verscheen, werden enkele wenkbrauwen gefronst. Sommige aanwezige journalisten meenden dat Sarkozy de pers in beschonken toestand te woord stond. De president geeft nu voor het eerst tekst en uitleg: "Ik kwam buiten adem aan op de persconferentie", luidt het."Ik was te laat en dus ben ik de trappen met vier treden tegelijkertijd opgelopen waardoor ik buiten adem op de persconferentie aangekomen ben.
Ik had niets bijzonders te zeggen en dus wilde ik weten of er vragen waren. Ik drink geen druppel alcohol. Dat is geen verdienste want ik drink het niet graag", zo zegt Sarkozy in een interview aan Le Parisien. De president heeft de video naar eigen zeggen pas deze week voor het eerst gezien. Het begin van de persconferentie is ondertussen meer dan een miljoen keer bekeken op YouTube. De persconferentie volgde op een onderhoud met de Russische president Vladimir Poetin.
